Phoenix Ends Season for Team Lafferty
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
November 13, 2009
CONCORD, N.C. – Well the 2009 season closing race for Lafferty Motorsports was less than spectacular, but left many knowing that the decision for Chris Lafferty to take over the wheel is no joke.
"We fought oil problems all weekend long, which we thought was due to the oil tank being over full." As it turned out Lafferty later discovered when they got back to the shop that the entire dry sump systems had less than 7 quarts of oil left in a system designed to carry 16 quarts. "After an oil analysis we discovered that our oil was vaporizing at only 210 degrees." Normally, synthetic oil can operate above 300 degrees.
In practice and qualifying, Lafferty knew they had issues so they just rode around trying not to do anything stupid but knew once the race started that they would have to kick it up a notch. "Once we were in the race we hit pay dirt and I could push a bit harder, but my limited laps in practice kept me cautious during the start of the race."
Many commented on how good the Lafferty truck looked during the start of the race running competitively with some quality teams.
"I know now that I can do this, that excites me," Lafferty said.
