Chris Lafferty Truck Debut Set for Martinsville
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 5, 2009
CONCORD, N.C. – Lafferty Motorsports has slowly and steadily grown over the past five years since its inception in 2004. But October 24th at Martinsville Speedway will start a new chapter in this struggling team’s history. Team owner Chris Lafferty will climb behind the wheel for his first race in the NASCAR Camping World Truck series. Since 2004 Lafferty Motorsports has fielded an entry on a part-time basis with the hopes of competing full-time in the years to come.
"I am very excited about driving, I love every opportunity that I have just to walk through the gates at a truck race and I know that I am truly lucky to be in this position to drive with the best drivers and best series out there," Lafferty said. The Lafferty team has been preparing extensively for this day and has high but reasonable expectations. "My plans are simple, I want to qualify respectively and race a clean race and come home with a good finish, so that these guys can be comfortable racing beside me. Many of these guys know me as an owner but this will be my first time with them as a driver."
Chris has done what may seem impossible. Coming to North Carolina 10 years ago with nothing, he has built a solid reputation as an engine builder, competing twice in the Clevite Engine Builders Challenge (now Mahle), writing for Circle Track Magazine, Stock Car Magazine and Speedway Illustrated. Starting Lafferty Motorsports with only a dream, Chris has been able to field trucks not only in NASCAR's top truck series but also fielding cars in the ARCA Racing Series as well as NASCAR's weekly Late Model and Street Stock divisions. Chris has gained national exposure for helping up and coming drivers achieve their goal, and will now be taking on the task of driver in the NASCAR Camping World Truck for his own NASCAR Camping World Truck Series team and will be in Phoenix as well as the season closer in Homestead (pending approval). Chris has done this with out any family money or any corporate backing which is definitely well earned.
