NASCAR Driver Wins the South Carolina Lottery

CONCORD, N.C. – Okay, so maybe Chris Lafferty didn’t personally win a prize from the South Carolina Education Lottery on Wednesday, but it sure felt like it. Chris Lafferty, owner and driver of Lafferty Motorsports, will be sponsored by the South Carolina Education Lottery at Darlington this Saturday.
Lafferty, who competes in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, will have the South Carolina Education Lottery as his primary sponsor. The sponsorship will also include driver and show truck appearances for the South Carolina Education Lottery’s promotional events for the May Nationwide and Sprint Cup races at Darlington.
“We are excited to have the South Carolina Education Lottery on board for Darlington,” says Lafferty. “Education is very important to us all, and I am thrilled that we are able to promote such a responsible and honest organization.”
“The South Carolina Education Lottery logo is going to look great on Chris’ truck this weekend,” said the Lottery’s Executive Director Paula Harper Bethea. “NASCAR and the Education Lottery make for a winning combination, and we know Chris will represent our brand well.”
In fiscal year 2009-2010 alone, the South Carolina Education Lottery transferred more than $272 million to educational programs. Since the Lottery began in 2002, more than $2.2 billion has been transferred to the Education Lottery Account to benefit South Carolina’s students. The South Carolina Education Lottery remains committed to enhancing educational funding in South Carolina through fun and entertaining games offered to adults.
Lafferty Motorsports is primarily involved in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Besides racing, the Concond, N.C. based team has an elite engine building program and a proven driver development program. In May, Lafferty will begin a new, late-night television show titled “The Last Lap with Chris Lafferty.” The racing themed show will air locally in North and South Carolina.
