Driver Development Program
The Driver Development Program is designed to provide an opportunity for potential drivers to make it in racing. Whether you are just starting out or close to making it into one of NASCAR’s top 3 Series, this program is made for you.
This program not only enhances your driving skills but has an ultimate goal on creating a well rounded driver. Speaking skills, marketing skills, and having an overall understanding of the business of racing, as well as their performances behind the wheel are all critical areas that we address.
We are not looking for the fastest driver in the world; we are looking for those individuals who have DRIVE, DEDICATION, and a POSITIVE ATTITUDE. These traits get you to the next level, without these characteristics a driver cannot perform to their greatest ability.
SPONSORS
Understand that there are only two people who will ever pay for you to race, and those two people are you or a sponsor. Lafferty will assist in giving you the skills needed to find potential sponsors, however we will not be providing you with sponsors. If you are willing to utilize the skills we have taught you in getting sponsorships we will send our marketing team to close any sponsorship deals so that you may become part of our team and drive for us.

Things You Will Need to Know
**While we can fit most sizes of driver understand that the cockpit may not be to your exact preference during the first test.
- Development Tests are ONLY ON MONDAYS
- The Driver Development test and marketing consult costs $1,600
- A minimum $250 deposit is required before a test date can be set
- Remaining balance can be received in: certified funds, money order or cash
- Drivers are required to have "Racing Ear Plugs" (for communication, NO microphone is needed)
- Ear plugs are available for purchase from Lafferty Motorsports at the track for $115 (Advance ordering required)
- Bring your own driving gear (fire suit and helmet will be provided to entry level drivers without gear)
- A driver will turn an average of 65-80 laps the day of test
- For non compliant drivers or guest- Lafferty Motorsports reserves the right to end test early with no refund
- We have trucks specifically set aside for development purposes. (Can fit any size driver) **
- Lafferty Motorsports is a 100% drug free company with a zero tolerance policy.

Driver Development Phases
Phase 1
Our Driver Development Program starts out in Hickory, North Carolina at Hickory Motor Speedway. We will take the driver around the track to get them familiar with the track and set up a driving baseline. Once the driver is fitted in the truck and ready to hit the track they will perform various tasks to tell us how much preparation is needed for the driver to begin racing.
The Lafferty Team is looking for the talent you have and what we can teach you, as well as the DRIVE, DEDICATION, and ATTITUDE needed to become a part of the team. Remember that the Lafferty Driver Development program works with entry level drivers as well as the seasoned veteran, and we have placement available at all levels, from NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, ARCA Remax Series, NASCAR Late Model Series as well as NASCAR Street Stocks.
Phase 2
The next day will be a meeting regarding an evaluation of your driving. After the driving evaluation, there will be a discussion to give you an introduction to marketing and the key factors that may be the difference between you making it in the business or not. We will cover the basics such as attracting potential sponsors and the information needed if the Lafferty Motorsports Marketing Team is going to be utilized. From your speaking and communication skills to driver appearances to understanding what a sponsor wants, all elements will be covered.
Phase 3
The final phase will include an overall run down of what was taught in the program as well as a final evaluation of your driving skills. Based on what we have seen throughout the program and the skills you’ve developed, we will determine the compatibility with you and the Lafferty Team.
It’s possible at the completion of the program, a driver may have the opportunity to become a driver for Lafferty Motorsports and soon find themselves as a driver in one of our local racing divisions or even as a driver in the #89 Lafferty Motorsports, NASCAR Camping World Series Truck.
